Even though we just released the directory to the public in January, we are still hard at work adding new features and fixing bugs. We plan to release updates in three week cycles. If you have any ideas or issues, please email the team at team@iamblackbusiness.com.
Something else to note is the name of release. Following other tech companies like Ubuntu and Google's Android, we are going to go through alphabet naming each release. Our names will come from famous African-Americans and events. With that said, we chose Ali for this release in honor of the G.O.A.T., Muhammad Ali.
Now, to the nitty gritty of this release. Below is a list of new features as well as bug fixes.
- Location Autocomplete - to complete the autocomplete functionality on the site, we have now connected to the Google Places API to pull in address, city, neighborhood, and landmark suggestions.
- Closed Business Indicator - we are about 50% done with this feature. The initial updates allows our admin team to mark a business as closed. We chose to add this indicator instead of just deleting businesses so that everyone can stay informed.
- Mobile Filter is now more User Friendly - we heard user feedback that the previous 3 lines that opened the filter menu was not very user friendly. We now display the word "Filter" to indicate the touch point to open the filter menu where you can select a specific category, subcategory, state, or city.
As always, thank you for your continued support of the directory and movement. With your support and feedback, together we will build a platform that will have significant impact on black economics.
