2014 was an interesting year, specifically as it related to the media. Many of the issues that were exposed provided confirmation that our motivation for IABB is more relevant than ever before. We’re excited to offer one of many solutions that will help stimulate the black economy. Although we’re specifically focused on empowering black businesses, we’re encouraging consumers of all demographics to join the movement.
We spent the better part of the year laying the foundation for a powerful online directory. Our design is simple and effective. The user experience will stem from two search boxes located at the top of the screen. Users can enter a search term and a location. The location field can conveniently accommodate a city, state, or a specific address. After entering a search term and/or a location, all relevant search results are returned in a list format and on a map. The list is sorted based on proximity to your location, so that the closet businesses are first on the list.
Each business will benefit from a page that reflects relevant information - description, address, phone number, and social media links. The page also displays a map that allows users to receive directions based on their location. As an added bonus, featured businesses and similar businesses are also listed.
Our team is preparing to launch a beta version of the website in the first quarter of this year. As we close out development, we plan to jumpstart a campaign to crowd source more black owned business. Look out for additional information via our social media accounts.
On behalf of the team, we’d like to wish everyone a happy and prosperous new year.
