ARTiculate ATL 2015 was held at the Mason Fine Art Gallery, co-curated by George and Eshoe Galbreath of Urban Art Expression as well as Brandon Ball and Courtney Ware of Ball-n-Co LLC. The event was a very creative, vibrant and inspirational showcase of different types of artwork. Upon entering the venue and perusing the various works of art, I saw a room full of art enthusiast - millennial and older, those new to the Atlanta art scene and those who have been around it for years. It felt good to see people supporting old artists while also showing love to new ones. There were several artists in the building that caught my attention. Two to mention were Doriane Sewell who painted Lyrical Flow Visualization and Vocalization artwork and Marco DeMarco who painted a piece of 2 Pac, that I purchased.
What I continue to enjoy from this showcase as I did last year, was the interaction between the artists and the art enthusiasts. The interaction I had with Marco DeMarco discussing his 2 Pac illustration as well as other works, galvanized me to support his work. I plan to not only support financially, but also by attending events and exhibits. I believe this is part of the reason why Urban Art Expression and Ball-n-Co LLC started ARTiculate - to create a culture where we will want to support our talented local artists.
It has truly been amazing to see the growth of this event as well as the growth of artists, particularly local favorites Chris Williams and Ruby Chavez. I am sure that next year's ARTiculate ATL will continue to build upon the success of 2015 with an even bigger venue and more artists. Dare I speak it in to fruition - a quarterly ARTiculate ATL or even an ARTiculate Miami, NY, DC and LA could be in the plans.
I encourage you to continue to keep ARTiculate ATL on your radar moving forward and attend the next event. I’ve created a reminder in my calendar to purchase a ticket as soon as they are available!!! As always, proceeds from this event went to benefit the UAE Youth Artists Program.
