Kevin M. Ashford
Kevin M. Ashford, Founder and Chief Operations Officer for Catered Cakes, is a huge “foodie” and spends countless hours preparing flavorful meals for family and friends, crafting recipes, developing unique flavor combinations, and creating new product ideas for the business. This passion for food has spurred an array of signature desserts at Catered Cakes that include the award-winning New Orleans Style Bread Pudding with a Bourbon-Rum Sauce, and popular desserts like Tropical Carrot Cake, Key Lime Cake, Red Velvet Cake, and a number of plant-based specialties.
His savory and sweet recipes have been featured in a number of local, national and international cookbooks and publications. Kevin has prepared culinary creations for a number of agencies, companies, organizations, celebrities and dignitaries, and he has appeared on several Atlanta and nationally produced television and radio shows, and panel discussions. From curating the dessert reception with Veuve Cliquot for the premier of Diary of a Mad Black Woman at the French Embassy in Washington D.C. to laying out a sampling of confectionary treats for Glynn Jackson, The Agency, Catered Cakes continues to delight clients with unique and satisfying dessert experiences.
Sharing his culinary skills is also important. Kevin has given talks, taught classes, judged culinary competitions and also performed food demonstrations for Atlanta area schools, Real Men Cook Atlanta, Family Food Fest Atlanta, Liquid Soul Media, Atlanta Creole Heritage Society, Atlanta Junior League, and Morehouse School of Medicine Plant-based Class to name a few. He also taped a segment with Chef Raul Thomas at OVN Latino’s television show ‘Comida Latina, Comida Criolla’ with where he made a guava bread pudding.
Kevin’s passion for the culinary arts is no more evident than through his support of Atlanta non-profit organization Family Food Fest Atlanta where he serves as the Spokesperson and Chef Coordinator. He introduced the demo stage to the event, and also helps to promote participation and support on the organization’s social media channels. Kevin is instrumental in encouraging and promoting local cooks and chefs for the organization’s yearly Father’s Day fundraising event.
